HALLOWEEN PRETZELS THREE WAYS

Halloween Pretzels made into 3 spooky treats- Pumpkins, Mummies & Aliens. Use chocolate & candy to create these festive Halloween Pretzels.

Halloween Pretzels are a favorite of mine! I love to get creative with each holiday and come up with fun, festive ways to dip pretzels. They’re so easy to make and I love that they usually only require a few ingredients. Get your kids involved and let them help- it makes the process go really fast and it’s such a fun activity. Be sure to watch the video to see just how we made all three of these Halloween Pretzels!

My favorite chocolate dipping tool is this Wilton Dipping Tool. It makes dipping just about anything in chocolate super easy and I highly recommend it for these pretzels.

HOW DO YOU MELT CHOCOLATE IN THE MICROWAVE?
Melting chocolate in the microwave is easy if you go slowly. Always use a glass or ceramic bowl and chocolate that’s not old. To melt 1 cup of chocolate chips I’d begin with 1 minute in the microwave. After the 1 minute, let chocolate sit for 2-3 minutes. Then, gently stir and see if chocolate begins to melt smooth. If it’s still really solid, add 20 seconds in the microwave, then let it sit again. Often chocolate looks like it’s not melted when it really is, and you don’t know for sure until you gently stir it. If your chocolate melts but it’s too thick to work with, try adding 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil or shortening, then letting it melt and stirring it in.

ALIEN PRETZELS

mini pretzels
1 cup white chocolate chips or candy melts
1/2 tsp coconut oil (or shortening)*
green & orange food coloring
round chocolate candies (Sixlets work well!)
3 TBSP semi-sweet chocolate chips
Place 3/4 cup white chocolate chips in a glass bowl along with 1/2 tsp coconut oil. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Let sit in the microwave for an additional minute. Stir gently, then return to the microwave for 15 seconds, if needed.
Divide chocolate and add green coloring to one of the bowls and stir gently.
Dip each pretzel into the bowl of chocolate, gently tapping the edge of the bowl to release excess chocolate. This process is so much easier when you use a dipping tool! Lay the covered pretzel down on a piece of wax paper. Use a small knife to clear the chocolate from the bottom hole of the pretzel, which will be the Alien mouth.
Place the semi sweet chocolate in a small baggie. Microwave for 40 seconds, or until melted. Cut the corner of the bag and pipe chocolate into the top 2 pretzel holes, filling in the alien eyes. Place round candies on top of chocolate. Repeat this process with the remaining white chocolate chips. You can leave them white and use this chocolate to fill in the eyes of the green alien pretzels, or you can separate it and color some chocolate orange to decorate the eyes. Let completed pretzels cool to set.
Repeat the process until you have the desired amount of alien pretzels, re-heating up the chocolate as necessary. Store in an airtight container to save.

Halloween Mummy Pretzels
mini pretzels
3/4 cup white chocolate chips or candy melts, divided
1/2 tsp coconut oil (or shortening)
candy eyeballs
Place 1/2 cup white chocolate chips in a glass bowl along with 1/2 tsp coconut oil. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Let sit in the microwave for an additional minute. Stir gently, then return to the microwave for 15 seconds, if needed.
Place remaining 1/4 cup white chocolate chips in a small baggie. Microwave for 45 seconds, or until warm and soft.
Dip each pretzel into the bowl of white chocolate, gently tapping the edge of the bowl to release excess chocolate. This process is so much easier when you use a dipping tool! Lay the covered pretzel down on a piece of wax paper. Place candy eyeballs into the top 2 cavities in the pretzel. Let cool until solid.
Take the baggie of white chocolate and snip the corner. Pipe white chocolate onto the top of each coated pretzel in lines, criss-crossing the entire “face” going around each eye. Let cool until solid.
Repeat the process until you have the desired amount of mummy pretzels, re-heating up the chocolate as necessary. Store in an airtight container to save.
